Higher education student and staff mobility project

The project was implemented at the University of Applied Sciences Baltazar Zaprešić, Croatia, during the academic year 2014/2015. The Erasmus programme was established in the University in 2013, with gradually increasing in number of student and staff mobilities. Participation in the Erasmus+ programme is one of the key elements of our internationalization strategy which mail goals are: 1. Creation of the international academic community by increasing the incoming and outgoing teachers and students; 2. Continuous improvement of the study programmes quality and further development of flexible and modern curriculum in accordance with European standards; 3. Further establishment of cooperation networks and transfer of good practice through bilateral agreements with similar HE institutions and participation in international cooperation projects 4. To provide wide international experience and professional inspiration for students and staff and to increase foreign language proficiency The key instruments to reach these goals are the students and staff mobility, close collaboration with similar institutions abroad and participation in international projects. The University's goal is not only to increase the number of mobilities but also to secure the quality and the successful completion of those exchanges. The University is organizing student and staff mobility through bilateral agreements that establish mobility conditions. For projects purposes, The University signed 27 interinstitutional agreements with higher education institutions in 17 countries participating in the Programme. The implementation of this project enabled 5 first and second cycle students to spend part of their studies at the partner higher education institutions. It also enabled 3 students to carry out traineeships in the companies and institutions abroad. 11 members of teaching and administrative staff had a chance to benefit from the Programme, by participating in staff mobility for teaching and training between programme countries. All of our students has completed their stay at the host institution having performed all obligations previously agreed upon by Learning Agreement. All the students that were abroad for an internship have returned having secured an outstanding evaluation from the host organizations. The studies and internships carried out abroad have been recognized by the University and the Departments upon the students' return. The staff members who participated in the programme got outstanding professional development experience, exchanged information on various topics and built prospects of new collaborations. Teachers got in touch with different teaching methods on the same academic fields and gained teaching experience. Overall, the results and impacts the project are the following: - improved level of student's key competences and skills in their study area, regarding in particular their relevance for the international labour market and society - professional development and networking for staff - increased language skills of our students and teachers - strengthened cooperation with existing foreign partners (conducting common educational, training and scientific activities) The expected long-term benefits are: - improved employability of our students through the international experience - increased quality of overall higher education system and promotion of education and culture of knowledge - increased number of high quality trained professionals as a key factor for sustainable local development
