Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

At Faculty of Health Sciences Novo mesto (hereinafter: FZV) we actively participate in the Erasmus+ programme and follow its objectives; we strengthen the contribution of higher and professional education, encouraging innovative processes in the area of health care; we improve quality and broaden the scope of cooperation between the health and nursing care higher education institutions in Europe, developing innovative contents, services, pedagogy and practice. Objectives of the students’ mobility for the purpose of study are to get educational, linguistic and cultural experience by studying in one of the participating countries; encouraging cooperation between the healthcare institutions and enriching educational environment; to contribute to the development of highly-skilled, competent and internationally experienced young people - future healthcare professional. The mobility of students for practice is intended for experiencing a certain period in a foreign clinical environment in another participating country, adapting to the needs of the European healthcare system, obtaining specific competencies and understanding the health and social culture of the host country. Goals of the mobility for teaching is to enable the “immobile” students to experience the international learning environment; to present the Slovene system of health and social care; to encourage exchange of the pedagogical work competences; encouraging institutions to expand the content of the courses; making arrangements for (co)mentoring students’ papers, expanding social network and generating new opportunities for international cooperation in joint projects. Goals of the mobility of staff for training are exchange of experiences and transfer of good practice; improving competencies for performing work and tasks in the area of health and social care; job shadowing or study visits; the acquisition of practical skills in the form of seminars, workshops, courses or conferences. In the Erasmus+ project (1 June 2014 – 31 May 2016) we were able to realise student mobility for the purpose of study – 9 moths; staff mobility for the purpose of teaching - 6 days; staff mobility for the purpose of training – 10 days. The Office for international mobility at FZV, coordinating all the processes related to the project, performance and recognition of individual mobilities, is involved in all stages of cooperation. The Commission for international mobility, together with the Faculty’s administration and management, takes care of the validation of the selected candidates for mobility, lesson plans for students or teachers and training plans for the rest of the staff. The annual International Scientific Conference, organised by FZV, is a perfect opportunity for students to be actively involved, as well as for organising guest lectures for students by the Conference’s participants, motivating students to apply for international mobility, to get to know other healthcare systems, cultures and communication in foreign languages. Every year we have foreign students enrolled at the Faculty. In the last two years we have hosted foreign students from partner institutions on exchange for the purpose of study. We invite partner institutions for cooperation in international projects, and for joint celebration of important world health days. We encourage mutual scientific research work and its presentation on European and global level. The manner of conducting new partnerships is clearly defined and implemented regularly. Dissemination of information about the Erasmus+ mobility project, and promotion of the results of the mobility is crucial for FZV. We are aware that the visibility of the Faculty in the context of internationalisation is necessary, therefore we use various methods by which we disseminate the importance of mobility, locally and globally. We are informing the general public about the international cooperation as our competitive advantage and an opportunity for students to meet foreign organisational cultures and acquire international professional competencies, which will significantly impact their personal development, growth and inclusion in the international environment, even after graduation. Project achievements are presented to the public on an interactive display, 24/7 in the centre of Novo mesto. Each participant of the mobility is always available for giving information about mobility to all persons interested. At the Higher Education Centre Novo mesto we annually organise a round table discussion on mobility, where students present their experiences as well as the Erasmus+ in general, moreover, workshops on the topic of mobility and work/study abroad are organised by the Faculty’s Career Centre. Our current Erasmus+ partners have so far proved worthy of trust and cooperation, and we will try to gain more partners to cooperate with us under the scope of Erasmus+ project.
