Higher education student and staff mobility project

Context/Background of the project: Before the project began, there were 136 Inter-Institutional Agreements with partner universities from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Greece and Crotia. According to these bilateral agreements, we expected to have some exchanges with our partner countries. Mostly, we had partners from Poland so we thought that there would be greater exchange with Poland than the other countries. We expected that there would be 104 students and 24 staff who would benefit from the Erasmus+ mobility. Objectives: The aim of this project was to exchange students and staff in order to provide them a different learning environment with different teaching methods. It was aimed that students would improve their academic competences as well as their social and language skills. Moreover, for the exchange of staff, it was aimed that staff would meet some people from the same field and create some other opportunities for further cooperation. Number and type/profile of participants: At the end of the project, we met our expectations and further we improved them. 143 students benefited from Erasmus+ student mobility. 135 students from those benefited from study mobility while 8 students of them benefited from placement mobility. In total, from 143 students, 4 students' study areas were about Health (Nursing, Health Institution Management, etc.), 6 students' study areas were about Education (Computer&Instructional Technologies Education, Maths Education, etc.), 6 students' study areas were about Science (Biology, Geography, etc.), 1 student's study area was Cinema and TV, 88 students' study areas were about Business Studies (Economics, Political Science, etc.), 13 students' study areas were about Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, etc.), 3 students were master students, 14 students were from Faculty of Technology, 6 students' major areas were Tourism and 2 students were from Faculty of Veterinary. 32 staff benefited from Erasmus+ staff mobility. From those 21 of them participated in Staff Mobility for Training and 11 of them participated in Staff Mobility for Teaching. Overall, 9 of the academic staffs' major areas were Engineering, 1 of them was from Faculty of Law, 1 of them was from Faculty of Education, 2 of them were from International Relations Office, 4 of them were from Faculty of Veterinary, 3 of them were from Faculty of Technology, 2 of them were from Vocational Schools, 1 of them was from Facult of Fine Arts, 3 of them were from Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, 4 of them were from Faculty of Science-Letters, 1 of them was from Faculty of Tourism and 1 of them was from Afyon Health School. Description of undertaken activities: We made announcements about student and staff applications for the mobility. We organized some meetings for the students. The details are given here (On 4 December, 2014 and 30 March, 2015 expert Nilda HOCAO?LU gave information on Erasmus+ student mobility to university students. On 23 December, 2014 expert Nilda HOCAO?LU and exper Ezgi GÜREL gave information on Erasmus+ student mobility to university students. On 30 April 2015 expert Nilda HOCAO?LU and expert Ezgi GÜREL gave information on Erasmus+ students and staff mobility as well as Inter-Institutional agreements to Erasmus faculty coordinators.) We organized an orientation day for both incoming and outgoing students. We organized intensive English Language Course for our outgoing students for about 8 weeks. We organized "Third Erasmus International Week" to disseminate knowledge and experiences about the project and to share good practices among our partner universities. Results and impact attained: We are glad that we increased the number of mobility when it was compared with the planned numbers. We believe that we also enhanced the quality of exhanges since we tried to develop our students' language skills through free language courses. After the mobility, students and staff turned back positive feelings about the mobility. Many of them are eager to experience the mobility, again for next years, which gave us an idea about the good impact of the project. Many of the participants were satisfied with what they had gained from the project. Longer-term benefits: We assume that there will be more participants who would like to benefit from the project for next years. We think that there will be some students who are planning to study abroad for their master degree. Some students, who benefited from study mobility, are now trying to make some connections with the host country in order to find a place for internship. They would like to benefit from placement mobility for next years.
