Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

DESCRIPION OF THE PROJECT Our Institution has good and strong historical roots in the territory and visibility of production, that has attracted attention of European Institutions. Some sample: • 2008: exchange between students within the project “Young for young” with the Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg (workshops and concerts with orchestra committing two Institutes students teams) • 2009: agreement with Siena’s University for Foreigners (at the moment we are integrating Chinese students) -collaboration with “Europäische Akademie fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst Palazzo Ricci Montepulciano” (masterclasses for students) • 2012: agreement with “Accademia Chigiana di Siena” (masterclasses for students) • 2014: agreement for research with Studium Faesolanum, Wien Our Institution considers one of its strategic priorities the comparison with other European Institutions concerning the teaching and scientific research. According to this point of view, it sets as one of its fundamental goals the development of the international exchange program for students, professors and administrative staff in collaboration with other European Conservatories and Universities. We have made Bilateral Agreements with Spain, Poland, Turkey, Germany, Slovenia, Rumania and France. We choose our partners networking, going to meetings and via our professors that contact directly their European colleagues. One of our targets is to expand and deepen relations with countries of Eastern Europe such as Bulgaria, Romania, Lithuania. We guarantee the maximum commitment in giving visibility to the procedures relating to the mobility of students and lectures , through publications with information on web pages (www.istitutofranci.com), through the local press and meetings on the opportunities of courses for international exchanges. On the web site there is information regarding the Erasmus University Charter and the Erasmus Statement Policy. This action is designed to ensure equal opportunities to all students enrolled. CONTEXT AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES OF THE PROJECT: Within the mobility, students' feedbacks of the outgoing experiences have shown several times how the aim, written in the project of ECHE 2014-2020, have been reached especially concerning thematic networks, cultural international relations and social enrichment. Linguistic integration is the other context we are able to say it has been developed, either for incoming as for outgoing students. NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS AND THEIR PROFILE In the academic year 2014/15 we registered 2 outgoing students and 2 incoming. Students: Clarinet, Singer are students attending either the bachelor course (Singing) as the master (Clarinet, Flute). Teacher mobility has been satisfied by 2 teachers (Flute, Piano) which have developed their projects abroad. No teachers incoming for the year. The mobility programm represent a new tool for students of our institution, since we didn't have it before. Even though it represents a unique opportunity, the number of outgoing students has been lower than we expected. PROJECTS The outgoing flute teacher proposed an integrated project on "Contemporary Flute's Techniques", according to his profile of performer and teacher envolved in contemporary music and on the research program linked to new compositions and new borders of flute technique. The aim of the project was to show and explore the huge possibilities the flute has besides its singing features. The interesting point the project focused on, is that the expression concept has been heavily changed during the second part of the last century leading to find out different possibilities of using the flute through new techniques. The piano teacher, according to his specialty on historical piano, proposed a special project of research focused on historical piano. Particular attention has been given to the historical mechanic's development of piano and to connections with repertoire and praxis, especially concerning the Italian repertoire after Bartolomeo Cristofori's piano. IMPACT AND RESULTS ON FLUTE COURSE (TEACHER) The fourteen flute students envolved in those three days reached a good awareness of how to improve playing flute through enjoying new techniques and non traditional ways to practice. Some of them at the end changed a lot in terms of sound colour, rhythmical precision, self control on stage. Those who were more rigid with tongue and jows have got a significative improvement on flexibility and "singing sound" with good results also on staccato patterns. The atmosphere in the class was of a good enthusiasm: they started from a good level and learning new techinques we can say the have assumed additional tools to improve more in the future.
