Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Context/Background: The FHDW is a university that employs a dual track system of education. This means that each quarter of academic study is followed by a quarter of practical work at a company. A practical orientation and internationalism are two of the basic principles of the FHDW. The close interconnection between theory and practical work is reflected in the international activities of the FHDW. The Erasmus+ Programme is carried out for all locations of the FHDW and administered by the headquarters in Paderborn. The academic offerings of the FHDW are qualitatively enhanced in value by the mobility actions for students and personnel. The international networks with partner universities are used to create synergies in the development of curricula as well as to increase the effectiveness and external effect of university education. The international stays and the exchanges with international colleagues promote the use of new methods and approaches in lectures and seminars. Goals: The goals of the project were: - To increase the mobility of partner universities abroad compared to the previous Erasmus project time period, to increase internship mobility, instructor mobility, and personnel mobility. - To ensure the recognition of theory and internship mobilities abroad by ECTS - To ensure the recognition of teaching mobility by applying the lessons taught abroad to the required teaching load at the FHDW. - The expansion of the FHDW partner university network. - The exchange of guest professors to promote both a more international teaching perspective and research activities. Number and type/profile of the participants: A total of 27 student and one teaching mobility took place. The SM mobilities came from the following fields: International Business, Business Administration, Business Informatics. Activities: The following activities were carried out: 15 SMP, 12 SMS, 1 STA. The SMP activities were largely conducted by the partner network of the FHDW in Spain and the UK. The SMS mobilities took place in France, Spain, and Romania. The STA mobility took place in France. Results and effects achieved: The student and internship mobilities were carried out with regard to the expected results of the studies and internships. The mobilities were fully accredited. The STA mobility was applied to the teaching load at the home university. Additional contact with other universities in Eastern Europe was one result of the STA mobility. As a university with a dual course of studies, the FHDW works closely with partner companies both domestically and abroad and was therefore able to use the internship mobilities to both strengthen and expand its existing network of partner companies. The intercultural competencies acquired abroad had a positive effect on the domestic partner companies, especially through increased linguistic competencies and improved understanding of European markets. According to students in the SM mobilities, they were able to achieve or improve the following competencies: Problem solving activities in challenging situations, independent learning, planning and organization of tasks and activities, an increased appreciation for other cultures. An increase of 100% was achieved in the appreciation of other cultures. As a result of the STA mobility, all competencies listed in the online survey were improved by 100%.
