Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Merz Akademie, University of Applied Art, Design and Media participated in the Erasmus + project 2014 in the area of staff mobility for teaching. The project objective was to improve the internationality of our study program by increasing the number of international lecturers (incoming) and to intensify international exchange on staff level. The Merz Akademie has a clear interest in the disciplines of the humanities, social, and cultural studies, design, and art, as well technology. Its tasks include activities in teaching, research, and further education that facilitate the professional and academic formation of designers and authors in the area of media on a scholarly, artistic, and technological basis. In its teaching the Merz Akademie strives to promote artistic authorship and research as well as technical application or service, so to create a new determination and emancipation of designers to media authors. The main objective of the teaching at the Merz Akademie is thus to prepare students to work as independent media authors and to analyse their own work in an aesthetic, cultural and scientific context, therefore to develop competence and critical thinking in design, art and media. With this clear focus, staff mobility on an international level plays an essential role at the Merz Akademie. The teaching content and the orientation of our qualification must take into account international standards and subject related developments in a particular degree, and therefore allow students to gain access to these discourses. Consequently, the university places great emphasis on an international placement of guest lectures and positions.
