Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Due to the academic profile of our university (philology) the project realised under the Erasmus + with the financial agreement 2014-1-PL01-KA103-000251 was primarily focused on the organization and implementation of the mobility of students with the primary objective to allow to recognize a part of the program of study or traineeships abroad, which contributes to the achievement of significant progress in a foreign language learning, as well as in achieving intercultural competence: acquaintance of the culture of everyday life in the academic or professional context. In addition, we planned the mobility of lecturers and administrative staff. The scale of planned departures was based on data from previous years and the current implementation of the objectives of the agreement largely resulted from requests by the students themselves. The beneficiaries of the activities planned in the project were mainly students interested in mobility integrated with their own cycle of study. Selection was based on an internal recruitment procedure (link: http://www.bwz.wsjo.pl/erasmus-wyjazdy-na-studia/co-zrobic-zeby-wyjechac-na-erasmusa/, link: http://www.bwz.wsjo.pl/erasmus-wyjazdy-na-praktyki-zagraniczne/co-zrobic-zeby-wyjechac-na-praktyki-zagraniczne/). Due to innovations introduced in the Erasmus + we noticed that students began to consciously plan the use of 12 months of mobility. Originally, in the agreement we planned 26 students’ mobilities (studies and traineeships altogether), 3 lecturers’ mobilities and 3 administrative staff’s mobilities (32 mobilities altogether). Finally we completed 31 students’ mobilities, unfortunately we didn’t manage to do lecturers’ or administrative staff’s mobilities. Moreover, we observed the advantage of traineeships’ mobilities (21) in relation to studies’ mobilities (10). Long-term benefits achieved through the implementation of the project in the years 2014/15, 15/16 should primarily include promotion the possibility of multiple trips and the possibility of the mobility of graduates within the program. In addition, the final number and type of mibilities influenced as always the planning of activities in the following years. Each year of activities under the Erasmus + contributes to gain new experiences related to sending and receiving students and has a beneficial effect on the organization of the study: in the case of outgoing students there are procedures to allow the smoothest credits recognition (unless the delay is due to unsatisfactory results achieved by the students themselves), students going to the traineeship have their practice automatically recognized as a general vocational component planned in the studies curricula. Incoming students (in the case of our university mainly from Spain) contribute to the constant presence of subjects taught in foreign languages, enable us to develop our program of teaching Polish as a foreign language as well as allow teachers to develop their teaching skills (we often arrange individual projects, when our program offer is insufficient for the goals set by the student’s home university).
