2. Project summary a. Context of the program - background The RMA has been participating in the Erasmus program since 2007. From the beginning on, the RMA received incoming students. However it was only during the academic year 2013-2014 that we send out our first cadets for an Erasmus exchange. In 2014, the academic program was reviewed in that way that the second semester of the last master year was reserved to finish the master theses. There were no longer academic courses planned during this semester. This meant that our students could, from that moment on, participate in an Erasmus exchange for 4 months to work on their master theses. During the academic year 13-14, three cadets participated in an Erasmus exchange in two different countries. Last academic year, five cadets were sent out to five different countries. The active participation in the Erasmus program is one of the pillars of our international strategy, which contributes to the renown of our institution at home and abroad. b. Objectives of the Erasmus exchange: (1) Gaining international experience The mobility will familiarize our cadets with working within a multinational framework in which they will hold positions during their future career. (2) Learning to plan and to work independently (3) Improving the cultural and social skills of our students c. Number / type / profile of the participants (1) Number : 5 outgoing students in 5 different countries (2) Type : Student mobility for study (master theses) (3) Profile : last master year students who worked on their master theses in an military university institution abroad d. Undertaken activities The only undertaken activity was student mobility. e. Results and impact attained (1) Studying abroad and the international experience in global has a positive impact on the personal development of the students. (a) 80 % of our outgoing cadets learned better how to plan and carry out their learning independently (b) 80 % of our outgoing cadets learned better how to develop an idea and put it into practice (c) 80 % of our outgoing cadets learned better how to plan and organize tasks and activities (2) A study abroad remains an important experience and in particular on intercultural understanding, foreign language proficiency and the knowledge of other countries. (a) 80 % of our outgoing cadets learned better how to see the value of different cultures and became more able to cooperate with people from other backgrounds and cultures (b) 80 % of our outgoing cadets became more interested in knowing what happens in the world daily (3) The students assess their study period abroad positively (a) 80 % of our outgoing cadets were very or rather satisfied with their mobility experience in general (b) 80 % of our outgoing students obtained an outstanding academic score on their master theses . (a) 80 % of our outgoing cadets learned better how to see the value of different cultures and became more able to cooperate with people from other backgrounds and cultures (b) 80 % of our outgoing cadets became more interested in knowing what happens in the world daily (3) The students assess their study period abroad positively (a) 80 % of our outgoing cadets were very or rather satisfied with their mobility experience in general (b) 80 % of our outgoing students obtained an outstanding academic score on their master theses
