"High Quality of Early Childhood Education and Care"

This project aims to testing and applying in some national/local contexts concepts, practises and learning/training methodologies for high quality in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC). The issue is relevant because of the cross-sectoral impact of Childcare, as well as for being a field of best application of lifelong learning concepts, and for allowing wide ground for trans-national innovation and transfer. 1.ECEC has been raised as a priority in many EU Member States because of its cross sectoral impact (not only education, but also social inclusion of children and families, employabilities of parents and more jobs in the childcare sector, balance of responsabilities within the families).2.A constructivist approach to quality in ECEC is based on a negotiation and agreement on standards, objectives, education practises; that is, it is based on a reflexive attitude, whose the continuos training/learning of the actors involved in learning/training is a pillar. 3.ECEC presents remarkable differences between Countries in Europe. In this project some well rooted and long-lasting pedagogical traditions and practises can offer materials for reflection, local testing and implementation, respectful of national contexts, policies, programmes and autonomous developments. The Partnership is formed by: Istituto degli Innocenti (IT), working at a regional/national level in the field of research, documentation, training, service providing on children's rights.
