HEyLP Heritage at Calmont d'Olt - Heritage European young Leaders Project
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Feb 28, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project, entitled "HEyLP Heritage at Calmont d'Olt - Heritage European young Leaders Project", is the brainchild of the will of the Association de sauvegarde du Château de Calmont d'Olt to facilitate the meeting of young European volunteers, through the discovery of a common cultural heritage that must be preserved. This theme will be the main thread for making participants sensitive to the values and goals on which Europe is built, such as peace, equality, and tolerance, but also to promote access to European citizenship. The exchange will take place in Espalion (Aveyron, France), from the 12 to the 24th of September 2016, and will bring together 19 volunteers (16 young and 3 leaders) from France, Italy and Romania, through the partnership of three organizations maintaining close relationships: l'Association de sauvegarde du Château de Calmont d'Olt, Legambiente, and Dala Foundation. The young volunteers will actively take part in the development and functioning of the exchange, and will participate in several workshops related to the restoration of the medieval fortress of Calmont d'Olt to discover the traditional crafts such as stonemasonry, masonry, and blacksmithing, sources of employment opportunities.Awareness of the European dimension of this heritage will be mentioned while visiting many historical sites and monuments in the area, and a collective project will be developed, to create tools to communicate and promote the action (video or photo reportage, badges, etc.). They will also participate in debates, round tables and games on various topics related to European heritage and topical subjects. Thus, by this common experience, the project is about educating young Europeans to the preservation and enhancement of their historical and cultural heritage, developing their spirit of initiative, their skills, their open-mindedness and their ability to commit to a collective project as volunteers and citizens, wishing they’ll want to continue along with these long-term partnerships and to develop other projects in favor of a common heritage, foundation of the European identity.
