Henkilöstön kansainvälisen osaamisen kehittäminen
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jul 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Jyväskylän Lyseon Lukio is applying for Erasmus + KA1 programme support for seven teachers who wish to travel to other EU countries in order to acquaint themselves with the teaching of their own subject areas in those countries. Our school is part of the Lukio (Upper secondary school) section of the Jyväskylä Educational Consortium and one of its central objectives is the promotion of an international outlook in both its staff and its students. It is our earnest wish that every year a part of our teaching staff should take part in courses, "job shadowing" or teaching in another country, so that the whole of our teaching body is a fully professional part of the global community and is able to orient and advise our students as well as possible in accordance with their future working lives. The teachers , men and women, applying from our school are from various subject areas - chemistry, history, German, Swedish, student counselling - and most of them teach both the Finnish national curriculum and on the English-language IB programme. Six of them are going on "job-shadowng" or teaching schemes and one on a course. The teachers submitted written explanations to the school principal stating their reasons for wanting to apply for the Erasmus+ KA1 programme. They wish to develop and improve their own language and inter-cultural communication skills, learn more about other countries' educational systems and teaching methods, and acquire new ideas for their own teaching. All this will renew their motivation to continue and improve in their profession and in their work at the Lyseon Lukio. Their participation in the Erasmus+ KA1 programme will also be of benefit to all the teachers and students of our school. Personal experience of international activity and of other countries will assist the teachers in a better understanding of global issues which will be passed on to the whole school community. It will improve our ability to understand and help students from immigrant backgrounds as well as facilitating contact and cooperation between schools in different countries. All this will make our teachers better able to prepare their students for their future as workers in a world without borders both here and everywhere.
