Heilerziehungspflegerisches Handeln im Hinblick auf die volle Einbeziehung aller Aspekte des Lebens - unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des "enhanced sense of belonging"
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

With respect to the aims of the project we refer to the UN- CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES . In the focus of this convention there is the “enhanced sense of belonging”. The 14 German students, who ar training als Qualified Health and Social Care Practitioners and who are in their second year, are supposed to have conversations with people with disabilities , make detailed observations and ask the employees in the respective institutions concerning that aspect. First and foremost we intend to have a comparison with German institutions and structures to find out what can be done to improve the “enhanced sense of belonging” and how to include all people with disabilities. The trainees will learn about dignity, they will be taking part in the social and self-determined life of the people with disabilities at WOSP (UK), Losserhof (NL), Caritas Vorarlberg (Austria) and Elisabeth-St. Joseph (Luxembourg). They will extend their range of competences, which are necessary for their future job. And they will improve their foreign language abilities. Moreover, the knowledge they will have gained will also be passed on to the other students of our college as well as to the staff and it will certainly be introduced to the all the institutions where our students do the practical part of their training. In the months after the work placements abroad the students’ report will be published in the company -owned magazine ( “PLSW– Kurier)” as our college belongs to the Paritaetische Lebenshilfe Schaumburg Weserbergland. The findings which the students gained at their partner-organisations will cause modification in their learning process and in the curriculum SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION as well as in the German homes, schools, nursery schools and sheltered workshops for people with disabilities. Finally the students will obtain professional maturity and widen their multi-cultural horizons.
