Harmonically Living 2
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

People with disabilities face social exclusion in their daily lives: since in the school experience they often live on the margins of the class and they are not adequately supported, they often experience school dropout, failure to learn social skills, exclusion from the labor market, their affective experiences are often relegated to the family atmosphere, they mainly have a low participation in social activities and free time. Inclusion means offering everyone the opportunity to be citizens in all aspects. This doens't mean to deny the fact that each of us is different or to deny the presence of disabilities or impairments that must be treated appropriately, but it means moving the focus of analysis and intervention by the person to the context, to identify obstacles and work for their removal. This project, and its previous edition, arise to satisfy this need. From the previous experience of great success, the second edition of harmonically Living aims to give other yougsters the opportunity to experience a week in harmony among people, animals and nature, no matter disability and species identification. Adding some enhancements and integrating some new activities, with this edition we want to give this opportunity to new people, with the use of non formal education, leading them to discover the magic of the encounter with diversity, with the goal of building a world leading forward social inclusion. Harmonically Living is now a social vision that we want to continue to pursue, just because it has already grown many fruits and we would like that could grow many other. We feel the need to promote greater sensitivity towards people with disabilities in the community, starting with the local and then reach the broader, we again use the event to end the project "We CAT international", and to increase its impact, we are aiming for a greater involvement of the media, particularly the press and the regional radio. The project takes place at the CAT, a center specializing in pet therapy with a large green yard and different animals living there: horses, donkeys, rabbits, dogs, cats and a pig. There will be involved 20 young people from Italy and Spain between 16 and 30 years balanced by gender, nationality and cognitive skills. We thought of involving in particular youngster who don't really approched the world of disability but who have an interest in approaching it, in order to show what it really means disability to those unfamiliar with the exclusion, in order to show them the importance of recognizing it and the urgency to fight it. To ensure maximum fairness we also involved two accompanying person from Spain and four accompanying person from Italy who also help in facilitating the meeting with the animals and also two trainers who can communicate both in Italian and Spanish. The activities, carried out mainly in the open air, will aim to promote a healthy lifestyle, sustainable life style environmental friendly and in contact with nature. The activities are declined following the model of Pet Therapy Relational Integrated, who portrays individuals according to their basic need to get in touch with the outside world and where the animal for its value even symbolic, open and stimulate the communication channels and have a highly curative power . The model sees the integration of all activities that have a healing power and that can be enriched by the contact with the animal: art therapy, music therapy, new technologies, green therapies, yoga and cooking activities; from the perspective of non-formal education. A further objective is to strengthen the application of ICT, through the use of an interactive digital wall that allows the user to interact in a virtual farm with virtual animals, with the use of social media (facebook and youtube) and with the use of digital tools (Camera and camcorder). The results we want to achieve are like those of the previous experience except that we will strive to more people witnessing the harmony and the desire to stay together, knowing a new culture and different way of life that help to see the world from different perspectives that invite to respect, listening and harmony.
