Hands on entrepreneurship
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

PROJECT SUMMARY 4892 UNIVERSIDAD DE DEUSTO Nowadays, the need for entrepreneurial mind sets and action oriented European citizens is taken for granted. In this scenario, the educational sector is a key player and being aware of this, Educational Institutions are implementing programmes and actions to address this social and economic challenge. The project answers the following needs: • The claim to boost entrepreneurial and innovative competences and capabilities. • The necessity to find new ways of teaching entrepreneurship at university and postgraduate education level on business studies and other fields such as sciences, engineering, arts, etc. The aim of the project is to create a Master on Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation for the development of entrepreneurial skills in HE post graduate students with an innovative action learning methodology approach, with a new curricula and contents and to implement and test a post graduate pilot programme. The project consortium is composed by 3 Universities: Deusto Business School, Budapest Business School and Tiimiakatemia -the entrepreneurship centre of excellence of the JAMK University of applied sciences in Jyväskylä- and one Research and Technological Centre, Tecnalia. Tiimiakatemia has 20 years of experience in entrepreneurial education with innovative learning by doing methods and experiential and reflective learning approaches. A key point in this approach is the creation of an enterprise with all its implications as a tool for students learning. Budapest and Deusto Business School, both with a long tradition in undergraduate and postgraduate business programmes, are looking for more innovative methodology in their educational programmes. Tecnalia is committed to the entrepreneurial movement: Tecnalia has a Venture unit and Team Academy Euskadi programme. As an industrial partner, Tecnalia connects students to industrial and technological needs to solve them in a creative and innovative way. The methodology used to carry out the project is similar to the Lean Start-Up approach. The Project started with several pilot actions to assess their value and impact. The methodologies used to design actions were Design Thinking as a proven approach to observe, understand and propose meaningful solutions oriented to customers. So students were engaged in those actions and could provide the consortium with their feedback. Finally an innovative master was designed and some methodologies and pilot programmes tested. This master has an ECTS approach for its official approval as can be seen in its design. The great success of the Innovate or die events carried out in Deusto and Budapest and their huge possibilities not only within the education field, but also for companies or public institutions must be highlighted. In addition, a community of practice for projects has proved a great potential. The project was organised in the following lines of action: • Exchange of practices and approaches about entrepreneurial training to create, develop and organise training and experiential activities. Also with a deep look into what is currently happening in the educational sector at all levels from school to VET and HE. • Design, implement and assess a set of activities in HE environments to facilitate alumni to gain entrepreneurial awareness and competences to co-create their personal and team business ideas and personal brand. This set of activities will be part of a postgraduate Master degree. Evaluation of the pilot programmes by using indicators and an evaluation system according to the type of innovative programme. • Dissemination of project results and involvement as far as possible to all stakeholders at university, educational and institutional level. • Analysis of the sustainability of the concept developed. Feasibility of a continuous implementation of the programme. The results and impact expected are: • O1 Guide of programmes for entrepreneurship skills development: a practical view. • O2 Study on current innovative practices on entrepreneurship education around Europe. • O3 Master in Entrepreneurship and innovative Leadership. • O4 Hands on Entrepreneurship methodology and Training material. • O5 Evaluation guide for entrepreneurship programmes • O6 Guide to promote entrepreneurship programmes The project organised several dissemination and multiplier events as well as stakeholders and experts workshops in the three countries involved. Learning activities such as the Intensive international experience for students have also ensured the transfer of the innovative methodological approach. The first impact is on post graduate students who will develop or improve their entrepreneur and leadership skills to lead projects and teams with the ability to create innovations in their future companies as well as a better employability. Universities involved will have a new offer for both their under and post graduate students; not only because of the Master programmes designed but also because of the wide range of possibilities and formats considered depending on the scope, the target and the length of the activities. In addition, these activities and other tools can be used by educational and other training agents, such as HR areas in companies and institutions, at various levels, even by secondary schools or vocational centres. Apart from the academic approach, including tuition and evaluation, a guide for marketing and promotion is also provided. The real beneficiary is society in general and specifically Europe. Europe is good at managing knowledge but has to face up to the entrepreneurial challenge that society is demanding.
