Hand to Hand
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Dec 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

“Hand to Hand” is the title of the project in which a volunteer from Ireland took part in a long-term European Voluntary Service (EVS) in Moldova for 11 months. Voluntary Service International (VSI) was the coordinating and the sending organization, the Centre for Assistance and Protection of Victims and Potential Victims of Trafficking (CAP) was the receiving organization and ADVIT Moldova acted as a contact point outside the receiving organization and carried out many of the administrative tasks of the receiving organisation. CAP is the first contact point in Moldova for persons returning home after a trafficking experience abroad. The CAP centre, which has been operational since 2001, provides crisis intervention in a safe and friendly environment and works as a shelter, where residents can benefit from a range of "in-house" services. The volunteer helped with realization of some of CAP's objectives. The project increased the volunteer's language and communication skills, understanding and knowledge of the issues, her personal development and fostered intercultural learning among all the partners. The local communities benefited from intercultural and language learning through the EVS as well as increased knowledge and awareness of Europe and the Erasmus+ programme and opportunities. The partner organizations' experience and learning of Erasmus + was increased as well as our capacity to work through the programme. The long-term benefits for the volunteer include her personal and professional development and skill learning as well as meeting a wide-range of people and developing new relationships. Her sense of European citizenship and of her own culture and society was increased.
