"Halak, vizek, ízek" Hasonlóságok és különbségek a két nemzet halfogyasztásában
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Erasmus + application, called „Fish, water, flavours” took place in Portugal between 12 October and 8 November 2015. The sender was Székely Mihály Foundation for vocational training in Szarvas. The foundation could send students abroad for the first time during its existence. The foundation cooperates with the local vocational secondary school; the target group is the students of this school. The Portuguese partner institution was Associacao Intercultural Amigos da Mobilidade which specializes in vocational programmes in Lifelong Learning and Erasmus+ from 2012. This institution provides practice area for different nations from Europe. Our 6 students could spend their 4 –week vocational training with Czech, Polish, Turkish and Lithuanians students. Our students worked in 3 pairs in 3 different restaurants of Barcelos. They had chance to make typical Hungarian dish-Goulash soup and pancakes- for more than 60 students from Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic. The participants of this project were 3 cooks, 1 waitress from vocational school and 2 hospitality students, who took the final exam last year. The vocational goal of this project was to help our students get familiar with the seafood and fish species. Hungarian students do not have any chances to prepare original seafood and fish dishes at home, so it was unique possibility in their professional life. They examined new cooking technologies and different flavours in Portuguese restaurants. During this vocational programme they worked alone, they prepared some Hungarian dishes for Portuguese guests. They were excellent cooks and Portuguese people had a high opinion of Hungarian students. Naturally their English knowledge had improved during this period, and beside that they learnt some Portuguese words and phrases so they developed their every day and professional language skills and communication. They got an advantage in the job market through the experience gained in an international work environment. After coming home the participants performed and shared their own experiences from Portugal. We informed the public about the completed Portuguese training through the local channels of dissemination. As effects we can mention gaining experiences during the mobility to fulfil the requirements described in the central program of the vocational training program. The real effect of this project will be the raise of the prestige of our school in the region. Székely Mihály Foundation for vocational training would like to support some students of Székely Mihály Szakképző Iskola in 2016, too. It wants to contribute to professional development opportunities for students abroad, because it would like to help these young people start their careers.
