Hagyomány és innováció: intézményi megújulás módszertani és nyelvi fejlesztéssel, jógyakorlatok átvételével
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Tudomány Language School, founded in 1991 (and developing ever since), is one of the oldest language schools in Budapest. Our school takes an innovative approach to meeting the ever-changing needs of our students by participating in several European Union projects, through the development of new digital language technology, and by increasing our flexibility by adapting to both local and global requirements. Within the present project, we were committed to the strategy of placing our key employees in authentic and immersive learning situations in the field of language education, language school organization, and professional language development. These activities have allowed our colleagues to learn more about technical and methodological strategies in addition to improving their language skills. The skills learned in these settings have directly improved language teaching, organizational management and administrative operations within our school. During the Project Launching Event, the areas worth developing were identified and participating colleagues were assigned to training courses that were selected accordingly. Our colleagues familiarized themselves with the course contents in detail prior to travel so they could be very active course participants. Upon returning they were offered adequate opportunities to disseminate inside and outside the company (via inner workshops, Weekly Teaching Idea newsletter for our teachers, professional internal conferences, external professional trainings and trade shows (Language Parade, IATEFL), with the help of their project diaries, travelogues, and photos. The courses were chosen in line with the development determined by the professional leadership of our school. We wish to broaden the selection of our language services with further blended learning opportunities, and by using other modern technologies in language teaching. The remainder of the selected courses also contribute to the high quality service of our school, which includes both executive and in-class professional work. Thanks to our internal development system, not only are the participating colleagues benefiting from the ERASMUS program, but all members of our extended staff have seen various developments in both their language and teaching skills. The dissemination plan also included sharing these acquired skills with language teachers all around the country through conferences and workshops sponsored by professional organisations. Our goals were to improve the level of language teaching throughout the country and to improve the achievements of language learners. According to the positive feedback given by our teachers, students, partner language schools and participants of the conferences mentioned above, we consider these goals achieved. We are energized to have teachers who are now well versed about the culture of the countries they visited and who are now able to teach cultural awareness to their students. Living in an international environment has also developed their collaborative skills. During their stay abroad, our colleagues experienced how those local schools operate and organize their courses, which is an extremely important aspect of their experiences that we can use in the near future while organizing a new location for our language school.
