Hacia una educación europea plurilingüe
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

TOWARDS A MULTILINGUAL EUROPEAN EDUCATION.Nowadays, society is going through a series of changes which require a continuous adaptation of all its sectors. One of the most important is education, since depending on its quality, youths will or not be able to face this challenge. For that reason, the Secondary School Las Norias is going to carry out a proyect through the European Programme Erasmus+, KA1. The participants will be English and Maths teachers and the number of them is two. The proyect will last one year and it is a short activity. The students from our school are from a medium-low socio-economic background. It is not a priority for the families to have a good academic qualification. About 20% of them do not get the Certificate in Compulsory Secondary Education. Two of the most difficult subjects for them are English and Maths. Therefore, and bearing in mind the European objectives in education 2020, our school is going to try to improve its quality (specifically of the above mentioned), solving our following needs: - To reduce school failure .- To equal youths who come from a low socioeconomic background by means of their inclusivity.- To improve the training process of the teachers. - To improve our students' English competence so that they will be able to face the Multilingual Project, the "Êxit Project" and the "Contratos Programa" Project of the centre.- To appreciate the knowledge of foreing languages for their own benefit (students' ones) and society.- To provide students with the right education so that they will be able to face the labour market or post-compulsory studies.- To continue with the Proyect Erasmus+ carried out in 2014 and improve it. - To provide the centre a European dimension .The participants of the project will have to acquire some competences to achieve those objectives. These competences will be achieved through the following activities:1. Training activities: They are mainly activities of observation and thinking: Department meetings to write down real methodological , sociolinguistic and cultural problems appeared in class, recommended reading of books related to the topics mentioned to be able to follow the training. Finally, the search of a course according to their needs.2. Attendance at a course that covers their needs (knowledge of new methodological trends, CLIL and those which give priority to the communicative approach, integrating the four skills and paying attention to different rhythms and learning styles, solution to real problems, multicultural and cross-curricular activities, practice of the English language, introduction to the culture by means of lectures or experiences and finally contact with other European teachers to exchange ideas and experiences suitable for this proyect and future ones. During the courses, teachers will check the degree of achievement of their goals.3. Activities after the course: the teaching of the new contents in the classroom and their dissemination in the educative centre. They will be part of the Teacher Training Project of the centre. Our school will also disseminate them to the local Primary School and neighbour centres (Aspe, Novelda, Elda, Petrel, Monovar)The methodology will be communicative, trying to integrate language and content (especially in Maths through learning to learn by means of solving problems strategies). On the other hand, it will also try to develop and improve our students' language competence (linguistic, discoursive, strategic and sociocultural) through the four skills. Finally, it will pay attention to our students' diversity. Therefore, the immediate results will be our teachers' acquisition and updating of new methodological trends, new motivating activities which integrate sociocultural aspects. All this will have an impact on our school (students and teachers) as well as the local primary school (because of the Proyect "From Primary to Secondary") and other national and international schools, thanks to the Internet and eTwinning: forums, blogs, etc. Finally, the long term benefits will be the answer to the needs of our project: - to reduce school failure.- to improve students' sociolinguistic competence and their strategies solving Maths problems- to foster quality and equality in education by updating the teaching staff.- to promote interdisciplinary work.- to introduce the multilingual project in the centre.- to acquire and project a European dimension in the centre.
