Hacia la excelencia lingüística con Europa
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The context of the project "Towards Linguistic Excellence with Europe", created by Universidad Laboral high school, is the context of a school situated outside the city but close to other secondary and primary schools. It is the largest school in the city with regard to size, number of pupils and teachers. There are around 1300 pupils and the current teaching body consists of 102 teachers. It also has a boarding school and school transport since several villages are attached to it. Our educational offer includes Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) -with two bilingual projects (English and French), Baccalaureate (modalities of Sciences, Technology and Humanities and Social Sciences) and vocational education (three vocational path-ways, two of which will be included in the English bilingual project next year). Our school has been awarded with Erasmus Charter of Higher Education since 2009. We are part of two projects: one called Development of Competence in a Weblab, about transference of innovation (TOI) -under the Leonardo da Vinci strand of the Lifelong Learning Programme-, and the second one is an eTwinning project called European Young People´s life, which is being developed together with a German school. Our track record shows our interest in INTERNATIONALIZATION and the QUALITY OF EDUCATION, aspects which underpin our project and in relation to which the following needs are identified: improving language skills, getting to know new teaching methods and tools for teaching foreign languages and non-linguistic subjects in a foreign language, motivating teachers and pupils, strengthening the European dimension and promoting transnational cooperation among teachers and schools. This project is open to all the teachers who are part of the bilingual programmes, those who are interested in being part of them, those who have joined European educational projects and those committed to share the experience of the mobility. The aims to be reached through his/her participation in the project must be clear. The type of activities are planned so as to meet school needs and are related to teacher training and teaching experience abroad: one Job shadowing in Germany, five training courses in France and The United Kingdom and one teaching practice in Germany. The methodology used to develop this project involves a preparatory process, the monitoring of the different activities, evaluation and dissemination of the results. The expected results are: the improvement of linguistic and methodological competences of the teachers involved in the project; the establishment of contacts with other European teachers, which may lead to future K2 projects; strengthening of existing links with other European schools; and getting knowledge of the workings of other European schools and education systems. The results will be integrated in daily teaching and will be reflected on the reports of the didactic departments and on the end of year´s school report. Their dissemination through different ways of communication (web sites, eTwinning platform, talks, local press) will produce a significant impact. This project involves learning agreements which affect the entire educational community: the teachers who do the mobility, other teachers who are interested in the collective success of the institution, those who are interested in the educational achievements (parents and school council), pupils benefiting from the professional improvement of their teachers and their European contacts, and those who participate in a less direct way (the education administration and the society in general).
