Start date: Mar 31, 2005, End date: Dec 30, 2007 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project increases preventive capacity against oil disasters at sea and trains for rescue and corrective measures. The project creates a permanent network for marine risk management and for the development of preventive measures in the archipelago, coastal areas and related water bodies. The project arranges seminars and training; establishes a system for an exchange of experts and information and compiles training and other materials on oil hazards and oil repression. A tendering process will be opened for the acquisition of a simulation programme for training operations in oil hazards in Finnish-Estonian-Russian co-operation. The simulation programme will be tested jointly in order to test the operational plans and logistics in the Gulf of Finland region. The participants are marine training institutions, rescue service units and authorities in the Gulf. Parallel to the Finnish-Estonian project, a Finnish-Russian project is also carried out in the Southeast Finland – Russia INTERREG IIIA programme.
