Our Project named "safe home-safe life" aims to prevent home accidents including 0-6 year-old children and the elderly, to learn first-aid techniques,teaching them to our people by means of distance education using innovative approaches and transferring the best practices to our country. Home accidents in children and in the elderly due to age-related reasons is an important public health problem. In our country, 22% of individuals who have been disabled as a result of home accidents is 60 years of age and over, while 2000 children per year die in homea ccidents. These rates indicate an important problem for the health of our country's children and the elderly. Home accidents can be avoided and this reality increases the importance of improvement activities to be carried out in this area. With this project, concerning the EU 2020 objectives including "education, vocational training, lifelong learning" we intend to apply home accidents prevention methods and first-aid applications to our country by researching and learning the related topics in place. Our Project beneficiaries; Public Health Directorate which is the coordinator ,Uşak Provincial National Education Directorate and Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Policies totally consist of a group of 14 participants. Uşak Public Health Directorate’s participants are:the legal representative of the project,the contact person,1 doctor, 4 midwives, 1 psychologist, 1 medical secretary. Usak Provincial National Education Directorate’s participants are:1 agency official and 2 teachers. Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Policies participants; 1 agency official, 1 psychologist. The first group will perform the first mobility visit to England in August 2014 for 7 days;the second group will visit Germany in September 2014 for 7 days and the third group will study in Italy in October 2014 for seven days. Objectives ; -To get information on the prevention of home accidents, simple first aid techniques and precautions to be taken -To establish courses for the staff on simple first aid methods about home accidents -To have our staff educate the public -To educate the child and old care professionals by means of a certificate programme -To build a safety-conscious society - To adapt and implement innovative material in educating the staff on the related topics -To learn saving techniques that an individual can perform with minimal equipment -To disseminate the information to the public . -Thus raising the level of knowledge and skills of those who are responsible for the overall health of children and elderly will reduce the number of deaths and injuries to a minimum level based on home accidents as our long term benefits.
