Grenzenloses Tanzen - Dancing over the Barriers

This is a bilateral partnership between two schools – in Poysdorf, Austria (the Coodinator) and Mikulov, the Czech Republic (the Partner). This is a dance project for pupils aged between 12 and 15, lasting from October 2009 till June 2011. During this period a variety of dance-related activities is planned. It can be categorised as a “large group class exchange”.The project will comprise an annual total of 11 days of exchange, and supplemented by regular lessons within the school curriculum. These lessons will include communication activities in both Czech and German (e.g. introducing oneself, talking about family), and basic vocabulary necessary for the block exchange (e.g. dance terminology and music vocabulary). However, the primary teaching language will be English. An organising body will manage and oversee the programme, which will employ the talents of a qualified dance teacher from each country (the Assistants). Great emphasis is placed on the project’s non-competitive aspect. There is no winner – all are winners! Very important to us is developing friendships, establishing ties with our neighbouring school and furthering intercultural education. The project will also cater for handicapped and disadvantaged pupils. The project will end with two performances – one in each of the participating countries. A Czech, German and English glossary of relevant terms and expressions will be produced.
