GreenUp All: get ready for an eco-friendly planet!

The project "GreenUp All: get ready for an eco-friendly planet!", promoted by '"European volunteering association", will take place in Palermo from 5 to 16 May 2015 and will involve 25 young people between 18 and 25 years and 6 group leaders from Italy, Turkey, Romania, France and Greece. The activities will be preceded by an APV among the leaders, that will take place from March 22 to 24. The project comes out from the lack of attention to environmental issues by the citizens and from the realization that the individual lifestyles can affect the fate of the Earth. The goal of the project is encouraging young people to get involved promoters of a more sustainable environment through active citizenship, participation and the desire to be motors and promoters of good practices; it aims to disseminate the philosophy of saving non-renewable resources, kilometer zero consumption and the approach of Zero Waste recycling, creative reuse and recycling. All activities will be based on non-formal and informal learning, on full involvement of young people through methods of "learning by doing", peer education and sharing. The project will also involve disadvantaged young people in economic, social and cultural field. At the same time it will involve local administrations and the Sicilian agencies that are trying to promote the environmental and economic sustainability. As a result of the project, the participants will develop an urban garden and the its impact on the well-being of the planet will be measured. The youths will make aware the public through exhibitions and flash mobs in the streets, and through the internet and social networks, trying to thrill even their friends on environmental issues. All materials and information created by the participants will be published and disseminated online.
