Green volunteers = green awareness
Start date: Mar 1, 2012,

The EVS project "Green volunteers = Green awareness" will take place in France, Estonia and Japan during 7 months.SJ and Estyes will send 6 long term volunteers and 2 youth with fewer opportunities to NICE Japan. In reciprocity, NICE will send 2 volunteers to France and 2 volunteers to Estonia. The volunteers will all participate to environmental projects in the 3 countries. The general aim of the EVS project is to raise the volunteers' awareness on sustainable development and allowing them to develop "green" skills and environmentally friendly behavior. They will focus on the theme of the impact of human activity on the environment and how to leave as little negative affect on our ecosystem as possible. Volunteers will also participate to awareness raising campaigns and events on the topic of sustainable development. They will produce a common booklet on best practices and share the results of their EVS project. The project also aims at offering rich learning, intercultural and self-developing experiences to volunteers. EVS volunteers, youth with fewer opportunities, local communities and the people in difficulty will all be empowered to develop their skills and self-esteem in order to be active members of society and get engaged in future activities on sustainable development and mutual understanding and tolerance. We hope to reach the goals we have set for this project through informal and non-formal education throughout the daily life and activities developed in the host projects both in France, Estonia and Japan. We believe that in learning by doing the volunteers will discover their own skills and develop them exponentially thanks to proper support of permanent staff.
