Green lifestyle
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Dec 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

GreenLifestyle is a project which comes from the need to provide youth people with the tools to bring about a global transition towards a society more just and in harmony with nature. Our young generation sees with impotence the growing contradiction between an economy of natural resource scarcity and its development in a limited planet; they also take notice of how the inequalities among social classes are increasing in a context of lack of job stability. Our intention with this project has been to rise awareness among European youngsters about the importance of starting to carry out small-scale changes in our cultural and economical paradigm, that in the long term will help us to ensure environmental sustainability and distribution of wealth. 31 youngsters aged between 16 and 25 years old, and coming from 5 different countries, have shared 10 days of living-together while collectively building up this project; we have carried out different workshops, activities and dynamics, all of them based on non-formal education, and using English language as lingua franca. Through these days, they have learned about solidarity economy, environmental sustainability, protection of the ecosystems and natural biodiversity. We have also delved into the importance of cultural diversity, tolerance towards other cultures that make up Europe; different debates have been also carried out too, covering many matters, such as young unemployment, the role of emotional education and self-confidence in the current economical situation, as well as seminars and talks about opportunities for international mobility, and of possible future cooperation with the organisations which have participated into this project. We consider that the project has had enormous results and has had a very positive impact in the youngsters, the local community and the organisations involved. We have managed to make the youngsters aware about the topics afore mentioned, to give them tools to face those ecological, social and economical challenges with a positive attitude, to empower them to become more responsible and active citizens. Besides, during and after the project different proposals for common collaboration among the associations which take part in the youth exchange, have been discussed, and even the intention to create a new association has been expressed. All of these are clearly represent very good results in the long term.
