Green Guest
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2019 PROJECT  FINISHED

Green Guest's ambition is to provide a comprehensive approach of employment and training in the hospitality trade based on Corporate Social Responsibility. The trade sometimes suffers from a poor image although it can offer very interesting careers and is a strong job provider . It can also develop environmental policies in favour of the planet which can be an incentive for future workforce to join the trade. Companies which develop such policies claim that they accelerate and intensifie their sustainable development commitment, transforming it into a decisive competitive advantage for the business. Current and future professionals of the trade should be made aware of the issue and should gain new knowledge, skills and competence to address environmental policies and sustainability in keeping with the recommendations and roadmaps of 2015 COP 21 in Paris. Green Guest which gathers a partnership composed of hospitality businesses' associations ( France, Italy) , Vocational Education and Training organisations (France , Italy, Estonia), a University ( Hungary) , an ICT company (Poland) is to develop several learning tools : elearning course on sustainablity in Hospitality, inspired from serious games, a Green Challenge for VET schools and participate to several events to promote the trade and inspire people into its jobs , combining workshops , exhibitions, conferences and job fairs. The elearning modules are to be used in level 3 and 4 of VET pathways. The collaboration between ICT experts and teachers, including elearning specialists from the educational environment , is very fruitful to produce tools inspired from the most uptodate techniques to guaranty both the level of knowledge and skills to be gained and approaches which should be appealing to learners used to video games and web20 devices. Two mappings will also be the bases for the tools productions : one about the analyses of policies implemented by corporate groups or smaller businesses in favour of sustainabilty, the other about the greening process of national VET curricula and gaps to be filled in. A specific marketing toolkit about the commitment of the trade to sustainabilty will also be created. A quality assurance plan to monitor the consistence of the outputs with the requirements of the trade and their connection to sustainabilty will be implemented in an ongoing process. We therefore expect to work on the delivery of VET training in hospitality, new blended pathways combining school-based courses, innovative elearning, and work-based learning through internships for future professionals of the trade , experts in sustainabilty and businesses . Our goal is to influence at least about 9000 people in all of our countries to contribute to the development of innovation and to the trend towards sustainable policies. Thence Green Guest will promote the use of CSR in hospitality and expects to impact the trade in terms of employment and long term improvement of the image of its jobs as well as in terms of a new innovative sustainable training offer thus addressing important issues the trade is confronted to.
