Start date: Oct 15, 2012,

The wider objective of GREENCO is to enable Russian Federation and Ukraine to face the challenges of dealing with green ICT in accordance with EU and international standards through capacity and institutional building measures. To reach the wider objective of the project a master and doctoral degree program on Green Computing and Communications (GCC) for Ukrainian and Russian universities will be introduced. Target master programme is intended for IT bachelor graduates to gain an understanding of the green computing methodologies and paradigms, energy efficient system level software such as compilers, hypervisors, monitoring and profiling tools, workload managers, and programming environments, energy aware large scale distributed systems, such as Grids and Clouds. The main performance indicator is that all partner universities have developed at least one tailor made curriculum master/doctoral module successfully and with all planned components and introduced all master/doctoral modules before the end of the project. To systematize and facilitate training and peer-assessment of doctoral students the establishing of two PhD incubators (PIN-UA & PIN-RU) on GCC is foreseen. Their tasks include:1. PhD Webinars: initiated and arranged by MSc and PhD students without supervisors – by available Adobe Connect Pro platform;2. Face-to-face PhD seminars: initiated and arranged by PhD students without supervisors; 3. Virtual pre-defenses of PhD thesis: initiated and arranged by PhD students with supervisors; 4. Journal “Green Computing and Communication” arranged by involved PhD students, complemented by MSc, PhD students; supervisors and industrial partners are invited for applied publications.Through thess programmes the close cooperation links between national R&D institutions and university systems in Ukraine and Russia will be spanned and high quality of education in a higher education system in GCC programs will be enhanced.
