Gramy Razem
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

“Gramy razem” (“Let’s play together”) is a sport and culture project aiming to show that sport plays an important part in the mutual understanding of the Europeans. It is a determinant of equal opportunities for everyone: the access to sport and health is a universal right, regardless of racial, religious, language, or political differences, and it is a chance to present Europe as more open, fair, and united. Sport enhances social integration and thus contributes greatly to democracy. The goal of the project is to demonstrate that sport should constitute an integral part of sociocultural development. The project will be concerned with issues related to cooperation, i.e. fight against violence at and around stadiums, fight against doping, women’s integration, and the issue of the equal rights of women and men, which is still present in the form of a manifesto in sports. The issues of environmental protection and healthy and active lifestyle will be also touched upon. As a part of the exchange, young people will be able to compare various ways of doing sports at the level of local clubs, schools, organisations, and informal youth groups, and to observe the resulting similarities and differences. They will also analyse how adolescents from particular countries spend their free time and what forms of physical activity they normally choose. Moreover, they will learn about the role of local authorities in the process of development of sport and leisure and about the significance of their own democratic involvement in this process. The title of the project (“Let’s play together”) as well as its programme show how all the members of the European Union have identical rights and duties, creating “one European team”. In Europe and in a team alike, all actions should have one common objective: in the case of this project, the objective is to build partnership through sport. The “Let’s play together” project will involve teenagers aged 14 to 18. In total, 39 young people from Slavkov u Brna (Czech Republic), Messeix (France), and Sławków (Poland) will meet in Sławków. They will be accompanied by group leaders. The participants in the project are strongly development-oriented teenagers willing to take the opportunities provided by the membership in the European Union. Among others, the project will include: integration workshops, presentations of the towns and countries, presentations of local sport organisations, sporting lifestyle, and the typical sports disciplines. The participants will become familiar with the rules of fair play and prepare an open sports event for the residents of Sławków. During the project, a debate on honesty in sport and life will take place, with the Town Mayor, sportspeople, a referee, and an ethicist as speakers. Thanks to the “Let’s play together” project, the participants will increase their cultural awareness and the sense of being Citizens of Europe; they will learn tolerance, openness, and competition free from negative emotions. What is more, they will find out how to organise open sports events and improve their abilities in the field of international cooperation and team work as well as their linguistic skills. As the project will be a good example of youth activity, it will have a positive impact on the attitudes of adolescents and other inhabitants of Sławków. One of the positive results of the project will be the promotion of Sławków, Messeix, and Slavkov u Brna and their cultures and the application of new social values in the local community. The “Let’s play together” project, being a continuation of the development of international cooperation in Sławków, will strengthen the partnership between the three towns and between young people and adults.
