Graffiti, Stencil and Local Old Traditions
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Oct 17, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The idea of the project "Graffiti, Stencil and Local Old Traditions" comes after a local stencil graffiti workshop that eight participants, five girls and three boys, aged 16 to 23 years, members of the youth association Illipula of Purchena organized in Purchena (Almería), in February 2014 . After the workshop we thought that through graffiti , such a popular technique among young people, and because we are an association which collaborates to preserve the traditions of our town, we could carry out a European project , involving eight Italian and Turkey youngsters, of the same age, in which project we link both worlds in principle so different to get that the old traditions reach the youngsters. For it, we carry out a project in which we will design and draw four large graffitis based on a historical tradition of Purchena called Juegos Moriscos. We believe it can be a project of great impact. Participants will make graffitis from our creativity that will stay for a long time. Our organizations will be able to show what kind of activities we can do because it is going to be a very visible project. Also we will spread the importance of maintaining traditions with the help of young people from three European countries , which will also strengthen our European awareness because we will do it through art and artistic trends that unite us young Europeans . All this through the participation of all , with respect for others and showing that graffiti can be a helpful and friendly activity. This project also has a future. We are already planning tocarry out it in Turkey and Italy next year, if is approved and we will do other projects with other different traditions.
