Global Dimensions in Learning
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project we have engaged in for the past 12 month has meant that we could build upon what is already happening in our school and enrich it further thereby impacting positively on standards and inspiring the learners. It has sat well within our school development and monitoring and evaluation structures. It has enriched and inspired not only the participants but the whole school community and further with our outreach work. We have felt privileged to have access to the very best up to date research, training and pedagogy and as such we have felt it is our duty to share our learning with others with enthusiasm. The project set out clear objectives: 1. Develop the pedagogy of the school through international insights in to other systems, approaches, cultures and beliefs. 2. Develop the teaching skills of staff including support staff so that the children will benefit from a diverse , exciting pedagogy impacting positively on their learning and standards. 3. Enrich our curriculum to make it fit for a modern world where globalisation is key for the children's futures. 4. To share learning in an engaging, inspiring manner so that as many people as possible can benefit from the training opportunity. In order to achieve such objectives we selected structured training courses where we sent a range of teachers with a variety of skills sets who have relished the opportunity to access quality training and have been committed and expert in leading others to learn from their experiences. We are excited that we have had the opportunity to build international links for both the staff, children and all the community with which we anticipate will last way beyond the training project. Eight teachers have had the opportunity to receive training in three different countries ( Italy, Spain and Finland) experiencing development in leadership, Early Years practice, Spanish language and culture and visual literacy. The staff who attended range from senior leaders to, class teachers and a higher level teaching assistant. They all have a passion and specialism for their chosen project subject and drive related projects already. It will naturally follow that they lead learning related to the training via our rigorous system of distributed leadership where learners thrive in a climate of enthusiasm where all are valued and mutually respected. A number of pre-course and post-course evaluations and feed back across our school, cluster, town schools and local authority took part throughout the course of the project. It have become an integral part of our outreach work supporting schools. It has helped us incorporate ideas in to the programme for Newly Qualified Teachers within school with our links to the University. It has supported us to deliver outreach in further establishments.
