GJV 2020 - Dijak v središču učnega procesa
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project is intended to be carried out as an upgrade of our endeavour to make our teaching and the teaching of all the staff mostly student oriented, which is the element of teaching in a modern school. We participate in the national project that helps the teachers introduce formative assessment, which is why we would like to observe this approach in the environment where the subject that we teach is a mother tongue or where formative assessment is incorporated in the national educational system. As foreign language teachers we also have to nurture our language competence beside developing pedagogical skills, so we plan to take part in the courses for foreign language teachers abroad. The aim of the project is to gain knowledge and skills that will enable us to be even more competent in class and to lead the students to accept self-regulated learning, greater responsibility in relation to their knowledge and to develop the teacher – student relationship that will be based on trust, which will result in better marks and smaller dropout rate. There will be mostly foreign-language teachers taking part in the project (English, Spanish and German teachers). We have 15 to 20 years of working experience and are all eager to develop professionally because we are aware of the fact that the language, the students and the world we live in are changing. This influences greatly the students’ perception of their environment, including school, which needs to adapt to different situation, so the fundamental aims of our school are to develop the European dimensions, gaining new knowledge about carrying out high quality educational work in compliance with the EU standards as well as life-long learning orientation of the teachers who will be qualified for developing the competences of life-long learning of the students. The participating teachers will take part in the teacher training courses abroad and observe classes at schools abroad (job shadowing). After these activities they will share their experience and acquired skills not only with the school staff and thus positively affect the quality of the school, but also with other institutions and people outside the school, that is the primary schools in the surroundings and the partner secondary school. The contacts with the new schools abroad will be kept through eTwinning and new examples of good practice will be looked for and published even after our visits. The final long-term benefit is to become an inspiring educational institution where the students will gain new knowledge and skills for the responsible attitude to learning with the help of the state-of-the-art didactic approaches based on research and creativity and at the same time develop the competences for active and responsible citizenship. Practically, we expect our students to improve their attitude to learning and improve their learning achievements.
