Gimnazijos bendruomenė ir tėvai - kartu bendradarbiavimo link
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The mission of Klaipeda “Vetrunge” gymnasium (further – gymnasium) is to help students learn based on their abilities, obtain general educational, sociocultural and technological literacy; moral, national and civil maturity; ensure equal educational possibilities based on the principles of communication and cooperation as well as sharing gained experience; create healthy and secure educational conditions rationally applying available material and human recourses. One of the indispensable assumptions of this defined mission is constant and effective communication and cooperation between school administration and class teachers, parents/guardians and students, involvement into educational process as well as extra curriculum activities. However, there are a lot of problems in the relationships between parents/guardians, students and class teachers that school communities have been trying to solve for several years. The main problem is that parents/guardians do not attend gymnasium meetings where important issues concerning students’ education are solved and the results and plans of gymnasium activities are presented. Parents/guardians are very distant from educational surroundings of their children who spend a lot of time there and which have a huge influence on the formation of students’ personality. Parents/guardians have delegated the full responsibility of their children to gymnasium, its pedagogues and administration workers, who, unfortunately, are unable to provide each student with full-fledged educational conditions without the help and cooperation of parents/guardians. It is partially due to the fact that most students feel the lack of motivation to improve. Nowadays socio-economic situation in Lithuania makes it difficult for school community to communicate with parents/guardians since quite a lot of them go to work abroad leaving their children with relatives or alone, or parents/guardians simply do not have time to attend parents’ meetings due to their busy schedules. One of the main objectives in gymnasium work plans and strategic documents during the recent years is the necessity to involve parents/guardians into gymnasium’s life, i.e. meetings and performances. The gymnasium community itself communicates less nowadays. This is due to the fact that paper journals have been eliminated and electronic journals introduced, as a result, teachers rarely come to the teachers’ room, which used to be the place of everyday communications and meetings. Qualification courses for pedagogues have little influence on solving this problem. Qualification courses of gymnasiums’ teachers and administration workers are usually organized by Klaipeda city Pedagogues’ Education and Culture center or by publication company “Šviesa“, where not only the topics and teaching methods but also the lecturers remain the same. Therefore, there is a big demand of improving gymnasium community teachers’ qualification abroad, participating in European projects, sharing experiences, having discussions with secondary schools from various European countries, and then return to our country and widely share the gained experience and knowledge with school community, city and even country. This is the keystone of the work plans and strategic documents of our institution, emphasized in the workers’ meetings. The main aim of this project is to improve gymnasium communication as well as cooperation between class teachers and administration workers and students’ parents/guardians, skills of their stronger involvement into school life, their children’s educational process through non-formal training courses in international environment. In order to fulfil this aim 12 gymnasium workers (principal’s assistant for education, principal’s assistant for extra curriculum activities and 10 class teachers) will participate in 5 days non-formal trainings in Germany and Turkey: 1. Trainings in Germany organized according to the already prepared programme “Conflict management in the class”. This programme was readjusted for a group of class teachers from Klaipeda. The following topics were included in this programme: class teachers’ mediation between parents/guardians and students, techniques of communication with parents/guardians, determination and concord of interests, analysis of specific situations in Lithuanian and German secondary schools. Methods applied during the trainings will be division of roles, situation simulation, case analysis, self-reflexing. 2. Turkish organization "Cengiz Project & Consulting" also prepared a special course for a group of gymnasium class teachers – “Development of school community communication and cooperation applying innovative educational methods”. After the trainings gymnasium prepared a plan for parent education and together with Klaipeda city Pedagogues’ Education and Culture center will organize a conference for the pedagogues of the region.
