Gienger International
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project is organised by the two project partners Wilhelm Gienger GmbH & Co. KG in Kornwestheim, Germany and the Tellus Group based in Plymouth, UK. The company Wilhelm Gienger GmbH & Co. KG is a family-run, medium-sized company with over 90 years experience in the sector as a wholesaler in building services. As a training provider the project partner Tellus Group is an active partner of programs such as Erasmus Plus and has many years of experience in arranging internships. Planned are two postings of trainees in November 2015 and autumn 2016 respectively for three weeks. There are 10 trainees posted at a time, who are carefully selected in advance by academic achievement and motivation letters. Background of the project is a positive experience with the Go.for.europe project 2014 in which our company has sent two trainees to Malaga, Spain. Thereby a very large value for the company has been recognized, resulting in the following objectives for the current project. Through the internships, the trainees should expand their social and intercultural skills as well as their professional and language competences. These include increasing the language skills, mobility, flexibility, openness plus independence and obtaining self-assurance in dealing with business partners. Furthermore, the project is accompanied by the increase in attractiveness of the dual education system and of Wilhelm Gienger GmbH & Co. KG as a training company. This image enhancement should have a positive impact on employees, potential applicants, and other external people such as our customers. With the support of our junior staff on their way to qualified professionals, we will get high performing employees that secure the long-term success of the company. The project will be offered to trainees in the second and third year of apprenticeships, who therefore have basic knowledge but must provide good achievements in school. An optimal preparation is ensured by a detailed information transfer over the course of the project and a language class as well as a seminar. The trainees are posted for three weeks at a time. The accommodation is provided by host families who are carefully selected by the Tellus Group. On the first day the students take part at a welcome meeting which informs about the next steps and the internship companies. After an one-week intensive language course, the trainees will complete two-week internships. The travel arrangements and insurances are arranged by the company Wilhelm Gienger GmbH & Co. KG. The Tellus Group is organising the accommodations, internships as well as the program and are in charge of the group. There is steady contact with the Tellus Group and the trainees also have the opportunity to communicate to us at any time during their stay. The evaluation of the project will be effected by means of participant reports, feedback from our project partner, personal interviews with trainees and a presentation of the project results.
