Getting to know Scotland
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Getting to know ScotlandFor the children here in the elementary school in Stockheim, a part of Upper Frankonia, the English lessons in the afternoon are little trips to an almost unknown world of English or Scotish children and their way of life. In order to fill the knowledge with vivid impressions from real persons, we herby aply for an "Immersion Course" in Scotland. Before going to Scotland, it is planned to give a little insight on Scotland to the children by a short video or a presentation from Internet databases. Followed by collecting and recording the upcoming questions about the country and daily life in Scotland as a kind of questionnaire by the children. It´s planned to collect answers from Scotish pupils and teachers during our stay, recording them and taking pictures or video sequences. After the summer holidays, we would have the chance to present the answers and recorded informations to the pupilsInformation from native speakers together with authentic experiences would be valued differently than just teaching "what`s in the book".Presenting the so gained information to the other children in our school, the pupils could multiply their informations on daily life in Scotland. And thereby experiencing, that learning English is a useful tool on the way to understand the culture of our European neighbours.
