Gender roles through time and place - a travelling exhibition

Gender roles have always been an important topic in education. Do we treat boys and girls the same? Do boys and girls behave the same? Do they perceive the world around them in a different way? Are their patterns of behaviour different from birth or do they acquire them? How do we, the teachers, react to these different behavioural patterns? This applies to each country individually, but what makes the topic all the more interesting is the comparison between our different countries. We want to approach the topic from different angles and involve as many aspects of life as possible. The subjects involved will range from natural sciences to languages, from health to history. In the process of studying similarities and differences between gender roles in the societies of our five countries, the students will acquire social and technological skills as well as improve their language skills. The partners will set up an internet communication platform and a common website for the project. Questionnaires on gender roles will help to compare similarities and differences in the five countries. The statistical analysis will make it possible to raise the students' awareness. The project aims at helping students in the process of finding their own identity and their place in their own society. All the results will be presented in posters that are gradually added to an exhibition which is displayed during each visit in each country. So the final outcome will be a travelling exhibition on gender roles through time and place.
