Gender Equality Starts Now
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Feb 28, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project was motivated by the increasing need to combat against still existing problem of gender inequality. Although gender equality is a human right, we are still struggling to change the structural foundations of inequality. To achieve gender equality, we need new, productive, strategic partnership that encourage action towards the change, with renewal commitment to bringing positive results. Inspired by this need, the main focus of this project will be discussing gender equality with partner countries and finding effective methods which will implement gender equality in youth work through networking. For this purpose, this project brings together 21 youth workers in a training course and networking activity to be organized in Daruvar, Croatia. The participating youth workers, who are from Armenia, Croatia, Georgia, Lithuania, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine are already engaged in various activities related to the topic, and they are willing to actively use and disseminate these educational activities. By promoting international cooperation within education and youth, this project follows the general goal of the Erasmus+ Programme. Youth workers and youth organizations involved in this project will develop a sense of initiative and critical analysis about gender equality which as a human right also tackles socio-economic changes, the key challenges that Europe will be facing until the end of the decade. Implementation of the gender equality dimension in the Europe 2020 Strategy will contribute to growth and social inclusion in Europe and beyond. In conclusion, this project is based on the idea that the use of non-formal education can be very efficient way to explore the meaning, importance and benefits of gender equality for our society. Providing participants (youth workers and youth organizations) with educational support means that we will have strong and important performers who can bring positive change in solving problem that gender inequality truly is. Moreover, it highlights an opportunity to create more possibilities for partner countries to cooperate in the future.
