YOUTH CONSUMER RIGHTS SUMMIT Our project aims to strengthen the rights of young consumers, incorporate youngsters in local and national decision processes in finding solutions for the consumer problems of their peers and to create new policies on consumer arbitration. The participants of the project will be 100 youngsters from all over Turkey, including 35 volunteers of our association taking part in the project implementation. The summit will take place with 4 days, 3 nights and the partcipants will be invited youngsters from youth parliaments, youth commissions, youth commissions of consumer associations, and youth groups working in villages. On the first day of the summit, there will be a meeting session and a seminar on consumer rights in our country, claiming possibilities ın case of potential problems, young consumer populations, and right claiming ratio of youngsters on consuming good problems. On the second day a panel will be held with participants from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, The European Consumer Center, Eskişehir Governor, Chairman of Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce and Executive Board Member of TOBB, a member of Consumer Arbitration Committee of Eskişehir and a youngster. The second day will continue with a presentation on campaign creation methods for creating campaigns on local and national levels and at the end of the day, participants will be divided into four working groups. In these four groups they will debate how to strengthen participation of youngsters in decision making processes. Our research method is going to be non formal and each group will join a field study on a different target group of consumers. To the summit participation of those institutes are being expected: - Prime Ministry of Republic of Turkey - Ministry of Industry and Commerce - Ministry of EU - Ministry of Economy - Eskişehir Governorship - Governorship of Odunpazarı District - Governorship of Tepebaşı District - Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce - TOBB - Federation of Consumer Associations in Turkey - Ministry of Consumer Problems of Sweden - Association of Craftsmen - Eskişehir Bar - Municipality of Odunpazarı and Tepebaşı The 1st group; will debate consumer goods and do a field work, and do a presentation on good practices on value adding of ECC members and will visit different firms. The 2nd group; will debate consumer problems in direction of physical, geographical and economic obstacles and during their field work they will make an obstacle racetrack event for a wide range of target groups by participation of obstacle associations federation. The 3rd group; will debate on solution strategies for solving consumer problems and on their field work they will attend a local TV and radio program in order to evaluate the perspective of citizens. The 4th group will debate on participation of youngsters in solution processes for youngster consuming problems and their field study includes attending the consumer arbitration council’s meeting. The group work of the four groups will be done on the 3rd day and the program will end with the cultural tour at the end of the day. In the 4th day, willi be passed to the field work in the afternoon, after group works and each group will apply their debates on by experimental learning methods. At the end of 5th day, the output of the summit will be created by participation of all attendees; before leaving cd, including output of the project, presentations held during the summit and personal youthpass certificates will be given. The output of the summit will be shared to 10 schools and the youngster communities of 10 villages, chosen. In addition, our works on negotiating with General Directorate of TRT and Directorate of TRT Okul for creating a campaign with title “a youngster for all consumer arbitration commissions” and rising the awareness of youngsters on TV programs and public spots.
