The GEDERI project aims to improve island management through the sharing of experience and information on topics that are common to the different regions and which currently represent weak points. It aims to put an end to the isolation of island regions by creating a network of expertise and a body of knowledge, methods and tools related to island issues. This will be implemented by organising seminars and conferences so that all partners can benefit from the experience and good practices of others. Overall objective / Objectif général The objective of the GEDERI programme is: To improve island management by the public organizations responsible for them in areas relating to economic development, service quality and the environment. To benefit from existing “local poles of knowledge” in the various island regions in order to help train or at least inform the political and administrative leaders in other island regions. Expected results / Résultats attendus As an extension to long-standing cooperation among island regions, the project aims to: • Put an end to island isolation by creating a firm network of expertise. • Exchange and disseminate a body of knowledge and tools related to islands. • Improve governance by public authorities on islands.
