Gateways – verktyg för destinationsutveckling (GWD)
Start date: May 31, 2013, End date: Dec 30, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The purposes of the project GWD is to support the development of established businesses and support the creation of new businesses within the bike and hiking tourism. One of the purposes of the project is to raise the numbers of visitors on and around our cycling and walking trails. The project wants to make the Öresund, Kattegatt and Skagerrak (ÖKS) region a strong, attractive destination for walking and cycling tourism. This will be done by working closely with SMEs to develop bookable quality products that attract visitors and commercial operators and in collaboration with them promote the development of attractive packages and increase their knowledge of the visitor's needs and requirements. Achievements: About 40 Gateways including lots of businesses have been established around the ÖKS-region. By using the Gateways as a working method the project has created a reason to gather different operators. This gathering has led to synergies. One result is that through the cooperation within the Gateways the business operators say they feel more like colleagues than competitors. In the former project Recreative Routes a local commitment was established between entrepreneurs, businesses and the inhabitants. GWD will use this commitment to continue to develop the Gateways and create an attractive destination from a commercial perspective.
