Gain Nordic Cultural Awareness and Vocational Skills
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The overall aim of this project is to enhance the quality regarding our student' abilities to get a job in the future. This is done via practice abroad which will support the students to; develop language knowledge, increased cultural awareness, personal development, references and business contacts, which in return will help students to social skills and a global perspective as well as an understanding of things unfamiliar and unknown. This will contribute to a society of understanding and a business with competent staff. Furthermore, this project aims at inspiring students to go for practice abroad by organising a study visit for a full class. By doing so, combined with the increased global knowledge of staff by job shadowing we will support students to cross geografical and cultural boundaries and hence being able to inspire them to go for practice on their own in year 3. We see that the contact with other countries needs to be in real life and this will enable a common platform for teachers and students which will promote the work with enhancing the global awareness. The activities will enable 7 students to go abroad for practice in year 3. These students study the Natural Resource Programme with focus on the Icelandic horse och for them to get contact with the origin, to be able to take part in the area of use of the Icelandic horse in the country of its origin, would really contribute to expand and deepen their knowledge in the field. Furthermore, the study visit and the job shadowing are focused on a complete class of students, that is why the number of students is larger and includes 29 students plus school principle, teachers and one assistant to enable all students, no matter learning disabilities, to join in. Apart from contributing with more competent staff in the future and to a society based on understanding we also aim for a long term and strategic cooperation with our partner in Iceland. This also gives our school the possibility to work strategically to further enhance quality assurance to our APL-process and to secure its participants.
