G.R.E.E.N. – Get Ready for Eliminating Endangerments of Nature

The youth exchange will take place in Cristuru Secuiesc, Romania in April 2016, with the participation of 36 youngsters from Romania, Spain, Lithuania, Croatia, Greece and Portugal. The aim is to make the participants and the local community aware of the importance of changing, improving their everyday habits in order to diminuate the degradation of the environment, of ecosystems, of their health and lives. For each day of activity is associated a harmful habit (exception the first and last day of the mobility): I. not recycling, not composting, handling incorrectly the hazardous wasteII. not maintaining the green areas correctly around our households and community: for example making fire in unarranged places when going to picnic and causing forest fire, throwing the waste everywhereIII. traveling with polluting means like cars instead of public transport or bycicleIV. buying imported aliments which travel thousands of km and are packaged excessivelyV. resource waste in households (electricity, water, heating)The above mentioned problems will be tackled under 3 types of activities: presenting and discussing the issues, creating huge banners with advices related to the solutioning of the debated problems and awareness rising outdoor actions with the members of the local community: planting flowers and small plants, placing recycling bins in the center and inviting people to throw their garbge selectively, making and placing toutistic checkerboards near the town, recycling workshop. The mobility will end with an eco-friendly action in the center of the town during which the 5 huge banners will be placed on a long fence and the participants will discuss with locals about the importance of improving daily habits step by step in order to become eco-friendly and diminish pollution.The participants will also get acquianted with the culture of the other countries and with regional cultural values (excursion to the one UNESCO site in Sighisoara). The intercultural night and national cultural nights the participants will learn to accept diversity and eliminate prejudices.The participants will develop their key competences, especially their initiative and entrepreneurship, communication in foreign language, civic competences, cultural awareness and expression. Their learning outcomes will be documented in their individual Youthpass Certificates.
