From Da Vinci to the 2012 Olympics

Mathematics is difficult, boring, much too theoretical.... . Very often present day students think in these stereotypes when talking and thinking about mathematics. This project aims at proving them wrong by demonstrating that mathematics can be fun, interesting and very practical.'From Da Vinci to the 2012 Olympics" wants to lead teachers and students on a search for new means of teaching mathematics by producing challenging whiteboard material, and take them on a voyage along plenty of practical applications of maths as they are to be found in the field of aeronautics by designing and building their own zeppelin for the future. As they can be found within the schools of the project themselves by demonstrating how so-called theoretical maths are applied in technical subjects. As they can even be found in the world of sports in general or the Olympic disciplines in particular. The upcoming London Olympics being not only a challenge for our countries' athletes but also for the students and teachers involved in the project.
