Anna-Freud High School is a school for pupils with motoric development defiency. The staff tries to mediate different international and intercultural compenteces through various projects, so also the teachers of the school need to gain open-mindedness and security while moving within the international/intercultural context. To be able to speak the language, especially english, as the most important language to communicate with our international partners is very important. Therefore the two coordinators of the international and intercultural projects need to keep up with the english language to reach the greatest possible security in handling these projects and getting in contact with the participants. It is planned to carry out an Erasmus + project with the partner schools in 2016-2018. The two coordinators of the international and intercultural projects both work as teachers at Anna-Freud High School and established the field of international and intercultural workshops with students of special schools. Furthermore, the school tries to mediate the language diversity through offering language clubs. Right now, we can offer a Russian club, which is highly popular at our school and because many pupils are interested in a spanish or italian club, two of our teachers try to expand their knowledge of these languages, to offer a spanish or italian club. We try to find partner schools in Spain and Italy via E-Twinning. Especially for pupils with a handicap it is important to have a basic understanding of some languages and compentences in international and intercultural matters, because that results in a gain of their own mobility. Our English teacher would like to improve her language skills, learn new methods in teaching, get new ideas for the classes and get in contact with schools in Great Britian. Because of our school form it is easier and better to get into direct contact with the schools and to see if a partnership would be possible. The participating staff will tell about their experiences and act as role models for the pupils and the staff and maybe inspire them to also participate in the international exchange.
