PROJECT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES : From next year on our school will be run as a „new middle school“ . This requires some changes in curriculum and organization (more project-based teaching , team teaching , more internal differentiation , ...). Through the international cooperation the participant can learn about proven systems and incorporate that in a modified form in the transformation of our school. The training itself and the international exchange during and after the training, shall improve the quality of teaching ( new teaching methods and teaching aids, new ideas for the organization of teaching and the curriculum , improving language skills, new ideas for the use of Smart Boards) . Another goal is to find partners for long-term cooperation. Cooperation with other European schools should allow the entire faculty a subject-based exchange. NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS : 1 PROFILE OF PARTICIPANT : Mrs. McNeal teaches as an integration teacher in team teaching English and helps planning the next Comenius project. She spent some time teaching in India and the U.S. where she gained international experience. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES : The project partner offers a training course with the following learning contents : Further development of the English language and pronunciation training Lesson preparations Planning and preparation of projects in the classroom Preparation of Syllabus Use of modern technologies in the classroom Work Shadowing - Shadowing a native English teacher in ESL at various levels Job Sharing Work Experience - with " Native" English teachers During Work shadowing and job sharing work experience the focus is on lesson planning , the presentation of knowledge, classroom management and the selection of learning materials . METHODS FOR PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION : Arrival, departure and accommodation will be organized by the partner organization in cooperation with the tour operator . Health insurance, travel insurance and trip cancellation insurance will be bought. A foreign health insurance certificate and a copy of the passport will be carried. Before the course communication with the partner organization will be through telephone and e-mail. Meetings with other participants can be held on Skype. quality criteria are agrred on in a contract and are monitored by the candidates as well as the partner organization. This includes an agreement between the partners on the relevant contents . The required qualifications of the teaching staff are also reviewed by both parties and the national agencies. Furthermore, attendance is required in order to attain the course certificate. Prior to the course participants will receive information on how to get there. Issues and concerns can be clarified with the tour operator as well as the partner organization via e-mail and phone. The participant will prepare herself beforehand on the cultural circumstances. The course organizer will provide preparatory course materials and a list of participants , including the countries of origin. The participating teacher already did extended professional trips to India and the United States. Therefore, the language skills are considered sufficient. The participant can contact others who have already attended a similar training course through eTwinning. EXPECTED RESULTS AND EFFECTS / LONG-TERM BENEFITS: The knowledge about how other schools in Europe are organized shall help to develop our school. New ideas or to increase the knowledge on how to use our Smart Boards. More knowledge and understanding of other cultures should be obtained and passed on to the students. Cambridge TKT ( Teacher Knowledge Tests ) can be completed as part of the training. Euro CV and the Euro Language Passport shall be parts of the project. Effect: - Increased language skills and more knowledge about the Irish culture can be incorporated in the classroom - Expanded knowledge of best practices in other countries - - New international aspects of school policy - International contacts are continued after the training on eTwinning to allow professional exchange and International projects Dissemination of results: - In-house training at our school - Out of school on eTwinning - International school projects that involve students .
