Fortbildung für Junglehrer der Europaschule zur Pflege und Weiterentwicklung der transnationalen Kompetenzen und zur Entwicklung neuer Projektideen
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school is located close to the cultural and financial center of Frankfurt am Main, the heart of Europe. We as a comprehensive school have a very diverse student body. For many parents, it is not possible to bring the European idea close to their children, which is often a prerequisite for a successful entry into the today’s labor market in internationally oriented Rhine-Main area. Therefore, as a school, we see it as our job to take part in this important educational task. This is implemented by a wide range of exchanges and projects. Since both, our European School coordinator and longtime international coordinator are to retire soon, the individual tasks must be redistributed and restructured. This is only possible if the applying colleagues are properly trained and are well connected. The three participating applicants are language teachers (English, Spanish, French) and have taken part in exchange programs as well as collected teaching experiences abroad. Integrating the European idea in Dreieich’s classrooms is as important as preserving the enthusiasm for the European School. A European School as the Heinrich Heine school profits from a school community that is open minded towards the European idea. In this sense, existing projects must be maintained and continued. To the same extent there is a need to establish new project partnerships. The seminar provides fundamental opportunities on an intercultural level, which are essential for our daily work and the implementation of the school's profile. The current political development constantly creates not only new challenges for Europe, but also for schools, representing the European idea. Following this idea, teachers must be trained properly to be able to cope with today’s reality. To sum up we have to enable our students to get a first hand European experience by taking part in student exchanges, reliable partnerships with European / non-European schools, and the opportunity to gain work experience abroad.
