Formation de formateurs l'intercompr hension en Langues Romanes

Galapro is part of an action-based educational perspective to foster multilingualism as aEuropean value (Council of Europe, 2001), by helping to develop a teaching methodbased on mutual understanding. The project aims to develop a specialised trainingnetwork based around mutual understanding of Romance languages (Catalan, Spanish,French, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian), using a hybrid or remote training system fortrainers. The term ‘trainers’ is used in the broadest sense to mean anyone who can beinvolved in the teaching process. The main issue at stake is to be able to spread theknowledge, approaches and tools developed in previous projects among differentschool populations by providing their teachers with theoretical/conceptual,methodological and practical skills (especially the use of ICT). This will help them usethese tools in a conscious and targeted way to achieve their educational goals in thesedifferent fields.Galapro will seek to create and assess task-based joint training scenarios to respond tothe needs and expectations of different target publics in terms of professional skills andlanguage and communication profiles. These trainers will network through an ad hocdigital environment on Internet, made up of groups within an institution (hybrid training)or who have signed up individually (distance learning). The foundations of this trainingare based on an all-inclusive training approach: i) training in teaching mutualunderstanding through practices for mutual understanding; ii) setting up virtual teachingcommunities for both practical exercises and joint teaching/learning experiences inmutual understanding.Galapro combines theoretical and empirical approaches (on local, national andtransnational, European and extra-European levels) through partnership actions duringthe contract period, then through the enlargement plan foreseen beyond this period. Theconcepts and actions used could be transferred to other families of languages(Germanic or Slavic, for instance) at the end of the project. Furthermore, the distributionand operation plan envisages holding training sessions beyond the period covered bythe project and a snowball effect of theoretical and practical activities (multilingualglossary, publications by researchers and trainer trainers, databases), making theseavailable on the platform and possibly integrating them into teaching scenarios outsidethe platform.
