The project entitled INITIAL TRAINING IN WEB DESIGN is the response to the main concern of improving the transition from school to active life and the growth of the level of competitiveness of the student who graduates from high-school where studying Mathematics–Informatics/Computer Studies, the transition to the labour market in a domain which has a spectacular development, computer science i.e. informatics, through making the educational process more flexible and more adaptable to the actual reality of this domain. There are 3 organisations involved in this multinational partnership: “Teodor Neş” National College from Salonta–as beneficiary, Lazarou CTC as receiving organisations and Organization for Promotion of European Issues as intermediary - from Paphos. The practical stage represents a basic component of a complete professional training process which will complete the students’ training and will be the answer to the following direct needs: the need to get practical experience in the usage of theoretical knowledge the students achieved by being taught the compulsory national curriculum, the need to assimilate practical experience in companies which function according to the present European professional standards, the need to work with adequate technical equipment, using the latest achievements in hardware and software fields, the need to have access to good examples of such practice and to establish connections which will make the contact with the labour market easier, the need to achieve some knowledge in the entrepreneurship domain which can offer them solutions in their future development. According to these needs there have been established the following objectives: O1–The profound study and development of the practical – applicative dimension of the students’ specialization training in a real economic environment, strictly connected to their own professional field. O2–The development of the practical abilities and their skills in informatics – assisted computer programming – to the growth of the level of competitiveness of the student who graduates from high-school in relation to the labour market. O3–The increase of the adaptive capacities, those of integration and adaptation to different socio-cultural environments and practising foreign languages. O4–Setting a platform of cooperation with IT companies throughout Europe which will connect the students to the requirements and latest progress in the field. By placing the participants into the receiving organization, our students will be able to develop specific professional skills by practising some basic concepts of web design by creating a WEB page in Photoshop, HTML, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash, identifying the techniques of design necessary to solve problems and their creative application, they will become familiar with other programs which the company use now, they will have the opportunity to discover and use the latest knowledge, they will be able to get the top professional training experience, they will acquire knowledge and entrepreneurship skills. The project will also mean the contact and, therefore, the chance to get to know a new environment, it will give the participants the opportunity to develop their English skills and initiation in Greek/Turkish, our students will learn to adapt more easily to a new working environment in the future, they will develop their innovative spirit, critical thinking, creativity, making them more competitive and helping them get a job with less difficulty. The placement period will be of 3 weeks in June after the school year is over and that is why the contents of the subjects were chosen from the Computer Science Optional curriculum for the 10th grade. In this way the participants will be able to use the knowledge they have achieved until then, they can get in touch with the new requirements and think in the future, they can have a practical introduction in the new technologies, making connections between the things they learned before and the notions they are about to study in the 11th and 12th grades, they can solve difficult applications for a high level of performance and, when they return home, throughout the first semester, the school can acknowledge, transfer and use the information they got.
