The project "Quality training for nurses at the European standards" answered to the training needs identified both at school and at local and regional level, to prepare quality workforce with skills required by the European labor market in healthcare. The project aimed to develop the professional skills of future nurses, according to the requirements of the health system and European standards, their familiarity with European healthcare system and the increasing of their capacity to adapt to conditions of work and life in another cultural context. In the project, 35 students in the 1st and the 2nd year with general nurse qualification, from "EDUNET" School of Nurses of Craiova, received a quality training during an European training placement, for 5 weeks, in A. Cardarelli hospital from Campobasso, Italy, subordinated to ASREM (Azienda Sanitaria Regionale del Molise). The participants were integrated into the health unit with a work program of 6 hours per day and amounted to a total of 150 hours of practical training in various departments of the hospital, by rotation. Participants performed practical activities of medical care in the hospital wards: they have made the anamnesis, described the changes observed in the general inspection and the manifestations caused by various diseases, they identified the problems of addiction, formulated nursing diagnosis, identified the stages of care and set up the nursing plan, then they applied their own and delegated interventions in the care process, nursing techniques and investigations, they administrated medicines, followed the evolution of the patient after the medical care and made changes of the nursing plan, based on the results. Participants of the second year offered medical care to the patients with kidney, urology, endocrinology and cardiology disease. At the end of the training placement, all 35 participants had deepen medical knowledge, improved skills at European standards, developed practical skills in the field of nursing and skills of using advanced medical technologies. Participants gained language and cultural skills, improved the experience of communicating with patients from other cultures, social and cultural communication experience, increased autonomy, which help them to integrate themselves more easily into the labor market, in different cultural contexts and to participate more actively in society. The 35 participants got familiar with the European values, with the specific of working with patients in an increasingly multicultural Europe having better chances of participation in the European labor market, as future nurses. The project contributed to the increasing of the quality of education and training provided by EDUNET School, to the diversification and attractiveness of its educational offer, to the adaptation of training of the European labor market specific and also contributed to the increasing of the insertion of graduates on the national and European labor market. The project added European value to the training offer of the school through its opening to the models and good practices in the European training of nurses, in accordance with the requirements of the health system in Europe and it created the opportunity to establish further European partnerships and long-term cooperation for training activity by internships in the European medical units. By promoting new types of learning, based on practical work in European health units, by disseminating examples of good practices and the project results at local, regional, national and European level and by the feedback from potential employers in Europe, the training providers of initial and continuous professional in our country realized the need to ensure quality and efficiency of education and training of nurses, to adapt their skills to the demands of European healthcare system as well as the awareness of importance of mobility in initial training and work. Thus, the Health units will have a better trained workforce. The project contributed to the objectives of the European strategy of education and training (ET 2020), to increase European cooperation in education and training, to facilitate the European mobility in training workforce and, later, to increase mobility on the European labor market .
