For Them With Them
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The "For Them With Them" project as the first EVS by the Erasmus+ Programme was realized in a „traditional” way, involving young people with fewer opportunities as well as serious life-management difficulties. We hosted already young volunteer with mental diseases (Marcin Z.) but he could not complete his service even though the National Agency supported him and us in the crisis, and he finished his EVS after six months. Learning a lot of that case and having consultations with other host organisations we were more prepared now to host a young volunteer, who could complete his EVS succesfully even though he has ADHD and autism spectrum disorder, and this success can influence his job seeking positively in the future. The other volunteer, Mateusz developed his life-management skills so well, that he decided to look for a job and stay in Hungary after his EVS. The other ex EVS volunteers of previous projects also support his job-seeking in Budapest, as they already have found job here. The Youthpass supported him in this case. We organised the work of volunteers that it absolutely fitted in the Megálló Programmes, they helped the work of different groups as well as photo-workshop called Foto Noire, theatre-therapy group, music-therapy group, English Club and different sport-activity and adventure-therapy groups which strengthened the solidarity and tolerance between the youngsters. Kuba and Mateusz have really different characters with different interests, so we focused on finding the most personalized activities for them. Kuba's favourite task was in the adventure-therapy and in the out-door activities, as it's his well known field since his childhood. Mateusz was not so satisfied in the beginning, cause he was not so proactive as Kuba, and it was more difficult for him to find his place in the community of Megallo, he wanted to spend more time with sitting in the office and learn project writing (proposals). But in other situations Mateusz was open, he often was participant on photos made by Foto Noire workshop in different parts of Budapest, Kuba always prefered to stay behind the camera, as he is more introvert person, does not use social network sites (f.e. facebook), he deeply believes in personal, live communication. We offered safe circumstances for that, because we believe that young people, who are different than the average majority, also have their own place in EVS. So the young volunteers with fewer opportunities could get non-formal learning experiences by the „good practices” of Megallo, by its good methods, helping their life-long learning, knowing different cultures and participating as European citizens.
