For Better Unity - Active In Our Community
Start date: May 2, 2015, End date: Nov 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

For Better Unity - Active in Our Community is a youth exchange that brings together 18 young people from Kosovo, Serbia and Sweden who all face different obstacles (geographical in the case of Kosovo, social in the case of Serbia and cultural in the case of Sweden). The main theme of the exchange is 'community development', a topic that is of interest to all young people who come from various communities facing different challenges of a social, environmental or cultural character. Throughout the exchange which takes place in the Southern region of Sweden - Skåne, numerous workshops and study visits will help the participants to identify such challenges, and inspire, guide and empower them to take active standpoints. The programme of the exchange is designed to create a steep learning curve - starting with study visits and participative discussions which will serve as inspiration for the participants, continuing with workshops which will aim at raising participants´ self-confidence and participation, and finish with a whole day open space workshop where participants will develop their own project ideas targeting problems that they think are the most urgent in their communities, with which they would carry on after the exchange. The exchange is thus aiming to have a long-term impact on the respective communities in all three countries, and share the opportunities equally among young people who had not have the chance to get outside of their "bubble". The choice of the participant countries is not random. Following the recent hatred-filled football match between the national teams of Serbia and Albania, which reminded us how heated the Balkan conflict still is, and the spread of islamophobia, antisemitism and hate crimes in Sweden, the exchange also aims to prevent intolerance among young people and contribute to sustainable peace in Europe.
